Announcing Regional Food Policy Meetings

The Kerr-Tar region of North Carolina has a deep agricultural history that points to our future potential. In order for our region to tap into this potential, we need a coordinated approach for creating infrastructure and collaboration that attract greater opportunities. Our objective is to drive economic development around regional agriculture and food production along with equitable access to healthy foods and nutritional stability in our communities.

The Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments has joined with Green Rural Redevelopment Organization (GRRO), Community Food Strategies, Working Landscapes and The Rural Center to begin a community dialogue to create transformational food policies for our region. A strategic food policy platform will provide the structure for economic strategies that will increase regional growth, employment, equitable access to better food options and community health.
